It seems like in today’s world marketing as a word is overused or improperly used almost as much as any other term.
The challenge with that is that marketing can and should have a very specific definition which helps differentiate it from branding, advertising, and other terms that are meant to convey the idea of getting people to buy your product, service, or idea.
But the thing is with the term being so broadly and inexactly used, we are left with a bunch of things that are called marketing that really aren’t.
So let’s come up with a definitive working definition:
Marketing is the process of generating awareness and action for your ideas.
