What Do You Mean, I Have To Make Contact?

kermit hey

Let me be blunt for just a second…at the end of the day, your marketing has one key objective, that is to generate business.

It isn’t to get you “likes” or “engagement” or any of that other stuff.

It has one and only one goal, to help you make more money!

Boom!

Now, I know that there is a big difference between B2B and B2C marketing and B2G and B2Whatever marketing.

But no matter what, your end goals from any marketing effort begin and end with more sales.

And, how do you help facilitate those sales…you want your marketing to help you make more contact with your target market.

How you define contact and what that means for your company will vary depending on what you are up to, but here are a few ways that you can ensure your marketing ends up creating the client interactions that you need it to:

1. Begin with a clear set of outcomes and actions in mind:

At the outset of any marketing and sales effort, it pays to have spent some time on making sure you are clear on what your outcomes and goals are and especially any specific actions you want your target market to take.

Without an understanding of what you want to occur being at the forefront of your mind, you are going to have difficulty creating the right sort of interactions and actions from your audience.

2. Knowing what success is going to look like:

This ties into the outcomes I talked about above.

But if you are not measuring for the right successes, you are not likely to get the results you are hoping for.

So, knowing your business, it makes sense to lay out some of the specific things you hope to achieve and that you know will lead to the success you want.

For me, that is meetings…my business model is built on a specific number of meetings leading to a specific number of clients.

For you, that number and success factor may be different.

Just make sure you are measuring for the right things.

3. Be creative, consistent, and open to learning:

Consistency is the key to success in any marketing activity.

And, in a world that tries to make every activity measured and controlled to the point of no return, a little creativity goes a long way.

So try and combine your creativity and consistency to reach your market in a new and stand out sort of way.

But the final key, and the one that will take you to another level is that you need to combine those two things with the idea of always being open to learning something new and applying it to your work.

What do I mean by that?

Each campaign you run. Each creative marketing effort you make.

LEARN!

What worked?

What didn’t?

What would you do the same?

What would you do differently?

How would you make it more effective?

Etc.

And, once you have answered all these questions…apply them. Because you should become a smarter marketer as you go.
