I saw someone post about “recession playbooks” this morning.
As I said in my reply, the only recipe for success is consistency at the basics.
I figured many people might not even know what I mean by that after so many years of Zero Interest Rate Policy (ZIRP)gave many people a false impression of what is an isn’t a basic.
Let me share a few of the basics that I teach.
Strategy Before Tactics:
The foundation.
Know what success looks like.
Have a target market/customer in mind.
Define why someone is buying from you and not the other options.
Then, take action.
No other order.
Why you is a requirement, not an option:
You need to define your position.
I’ve mentioned it twice here because I don’t want you to miss it.
You can’t be everything to everyone.
You can’t do everything well.
You need to define what you do and why folks should pick you.
Measure the right things:
This is why I talk about defining success.
You need to understand what moves you forward vs. what is easy to measure.
It is easy to track calls, emails, or impressions.
It is better to measure meetings, signups, or other actions that lead to success.
Consistency:
You may only have 2 or 3 things that can really push you forward.
Do those consistently.
