My approach to strategy

Hi! 

For the last few weeks, I’ve been playing with a model. 

What kind of model?

A model that explains what I’m teaching around strategy. 

It is the marriage of two models that work together. 

One is my framework of 5 questions:

  • What does success look like?
  • Who is our potential market?
  • Why us?
  • What do we need to be successful?
  • What are we going to do? 

Two is a strategic triangle that turns this into something you can use in the real world. 

The three points:

  • Power
  • Competitive Advantage
  • Consistent Action

Power means power over customers, competition, and suppliers. 

Competitive advantage means you’ve created differentiation between you and the competition. 

Think of this as your unique sales proposition (USP). 

Actions, that’s easy. 

Consistency, that’s the hard part. 

Going forward, I’m going to mix in some analysis of things I see happening in the world with case studies and ways that you can use different techniques to grow your business. 

Each week, I’ll drop a little poll in here to keep you engaged and me on the right track. 

You can always hit reply. 

I’ll also have some other cool stuff to help you so we can work together more closely. 

But as I’m formulating my thinking, I want to share it with you so you can tell me if I’m on track or off my rocker.
