The BIG Ticket: Brokers are Bad. Unless?!

Hi!

I’m in Upstate NY for a few days.

Spring Break!

Hello to all the new subscribers.

Thanks to Scott Friedman for plugging the newsletter and sharing some of my notes about the StubHub S-1.

I’ve gone through three edits of my analysis of the S-1.

I may get it out today.

Maybe tomorrow.

While you wait for me to finish, I found an interesting take on the secondary market in The Economist

This piece says that brokers make money in the upturns and content producers, promoters, venues, etc. are more likely to complain.

But…in a downturn, we don’t hear people worrying that brokers are insulating the business from belt-tightening due to economic conditions.

This shouldn’t be a foreign idea for you…I’ve been saying that brokers are insulating a lot of teams for lower demand for a while now.

I just found it interesting to see in The Economist.

Two new podcasts:

Lawrence Armstrong talks about strategy, leadership, and innovation last week.

Jimi Gibson visits me to talk about how magic made him a better marketer

I’m looking for new guest suggestions.

Let me know who you’d like to hear from.

Dave
