The Big Idea: Pitfalls of Strategy.
Two common ones:
- Trying to do too much.
- Not making a decision.
In almost every strategy workshop I do, I see some variation of these two points.
The business either wants to be everything to everyone. Or, they try to avoid making a decision by “planning”, creating “working groups”, “meeting”, or something else.
As we’ve covered consistently here, strategy is about:
- Making a decision on where you are heading.
- Focusing on the destination.
- Taking consistent action to get to your goal.
If you can’t look at your strategy and say, “Yes. We are doing that.” you might not have a strategy.
