I’m heading to the UK for the Ticketing Professionals Conference next week and I’m always excited to get a chance to catch up with the folks that put on the conference, my friends from around the industry, and learn a lot of new things.
This year, the crew at TPC have done an even better job than normal putting together the biggest conference in the UK and one with tremendous value from the start of the program until the end.
Here are 10 things I’m especially looking forward to next week:
Ticketmaster’s Welcome Back Party: This is going to be fun because the TPC is at a new venue this time and this is the first time a lot of people in events and tickets have been able to get together for over two years. So seeing some of my buddies for the first time in person in a long time will be really awesome.
Sieste Baker’s Keynote: I’ve always been jealous of the Eurovision contest because we don’t have one in America. It seems to be one of the most joyous events for folks around Europe. The way that it captures people’s imagination is pretty cool and I’m looking to learn from Sieste how they pull that off.
Dynamic Pricing on Trial: This is a cool session, run by a really great guy. I have a known interest in pricing and I’ll be here for this…I know the pros and cons, but I’ll be keen to hear Robin share some new insights and new ideas around pricing. And, I’ll be curious how people think on the topic and vote.
Terrorism Today: This seems like an even more important session than before with the war on the Ukraine happening. The presentation is built out of lessons learned from the attack in Manchester, but terrorism and disruption is a challenge all of us need to think about in light of the troubles in the world.
The Sweetest Feeling?: This seems up my alley because I’m a big survey person. I use NPS score and surveys to figure out how to improve my podcast, newsletter, workshops, and other stuff I do. So I’ll be curious to see how theatres in the UK are using the idea of audience feedback as well.
Diversity and Inclusion in Hiring: This is the session I talked with Lyndsey Jackson about on the podcast a few months ago. So I’ll be excited to see what Lyndsey and her team have put together. They are dedicated to making sure that their programs, staffing, and every decision reflects the community they live in.
Cocktail Hour and a Half/The Tix Big Thursday Bash: These parties are the best and just hanging out, having drinks seems like the greatest thing after the last two years. With over 450 people and a sold out exhibition hall…this is going to be amazing.
Let me know if you’ll be at TPC.
