I was listening to Seth Godin’s new podcast, Akimbo, yesterday when he talked about embracing “the and.”
As Seth describes it, “but” can stop you in your tracks. But is an excuse that enables you to allow yourself off the hook.
I want to write a blog post a day, but I can’t think of anything to write today.
See what I did there?
The other side of that is the and.
I want to write a blog post a day and it doesn’t need to be perfect.
I want to write a blog post a day and I work in a number of different industries so I have tons of things to cover and think about.
The and opens up possibilities.
So I’m going to do a little bit of an experiment over the next few weeks and I am going to take some of our most tried and true business excuses or challenges and try to embrace “the and” to see what kind of answers and ideas I can come up with.
