I was speaking with a friend recently about what do I think makes a good education and I told him that a good education wasn’t the name on the diploma or the subject you studied, but more importantly it was what you can do with it.
Which leads me to the warehouse mentality in education that says we can just line our students up and have them learn things rote and that they will be able to go out into the world and compete.
That’s not the case, we need to break that mentality and instead teach our kids and students of all ages how to take the knowledge they gain and apply it.
Just as in business, so as in life, application is everything.
