One topic I get asked about pretty regularly is how do you keep your communications consistent…
Being consistent at any activity is tough and something you have to make a priority. To be consistent as a communicator, here are a few keys:
1. Plan Your Communications: Many of us have said that we want to blog more, communicate more regularly, etc. The only sure way to do that is to plan for the activity that you want to do. Be that by setting yourself a date in your calendar, scheduling a set time to do things each day, or adding it to your checklist…make sure you set yourself up to have communications become a part of the activities that you plan on doing.
2. Think About What Your Message Is Going To Be: Communicating regularly isn’t enough. If you are going to be consistent in your communications, you need to think about the message that you want to convey. That is vital. If your message is all over the map, you aren’t going to be able to get the consistent messaging necessary to gain any traction.
3. Be Open To Experimentation: Having a plan and a message are good places to start, but one thing that really helps with your consistent communications is experimentation because the message has to be shared in a manner and way that is accessible to your audience. So don’t be afraid to test timing, media, and any other factors that seem important to you and your message.
