I take a lot of meetings and I get the chance to talk to a lot of people. Which is great, because I get the chance to hear a lot of different stories about what people do, what makes them tick, and how they are pushing forward.
A lot of time conversations will drift to things like:
“What do you do?”
“What do you work on?”
Etc.
Now from a business standpoint, I know that people always want to pigeon hole you…its just the way people’s minds seem to work.
And, one thing you need to do is to fight that as much as possible if you are to continue to grow and do more interesting work.
Which leads me to a mission statement…while I have worked on social media projects, tickets, marketing, events, hospitality, tourism, politics and many other types of projects, my mission statement is the same:
“We make interventions for our clients that help them gain better value from their investments.”
Simple and to the point. My people only act to do consulting work if there is a chance to improve the value that our clients are seeing from their investments.
In your business, what is your mission statement?
