I think that Big Data has driven us to the point of stupidity.
I mean we can’t make a decision with it.
We can’t make a decision without it.
What is someone to do?
The thing about this love affair with Big Data is that it misses a couple of key points:
- Data alone is pretty pointless. The best ideas come from the juxtaposition of several ideas that somehow come together in a new way. Not from data alone.
- Most data is housed in such a confined way that the data is stored in a silo that makes it almost worthless.
- Data favors analysis over emotion. But emotion is what drives action.
So you see, data actually isn’t helping us much because in more ways than one…it is getting in our way as much as it is helping us.
