A Short Marketing Reading List

I read a great deal.  Not all of it focused on one particular subject or topic.  In fact, I read an embarrassing amount of thrillers and mysteries, but I was looking at some of the non-fiction stuff I’ve read this year, and the fact that I keep reading The Personal MBA and thinking about the stuff in there and so I thought I would give you guys a few books that I have found valuable over the years…like a Marketing 101 reading list, or something. 

1.  Tribes by Seth Godin

2.  All Marketers Are Liars by Seth Godin

3.  Don’t Think Of An Elephant by George Lakoff:  Not necessarily a marketing book, but one about framing your positions.  What’s marketing if not that?

4.  The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing by Al Ries

5.  Confessions of an Advertising Man by David Ogilvy

This isn’t a complete list by any stretch of the imagination, but it will get you started.  And, if you absorb the information in these books and apply to whatever you are working on, your project can only be better because of it.
