If you’ve been a radio junky like me since you can remember being able to reach the dial. (I vividly remember tuning in to listen to the Atlanta Braves led by Dale Murphy play an afternoon game against the Chicago Cubs with Andre Dawson.) You have a few thoughts on the current state of radio programming. Not many of which are going to be good.
That’s why if you are like me, you were excited for the return of Tom Leykis yesterday. If you were a listener of Tom’s show over the years, you know that he was one of the longest running and most successful talk radio hosts in LA. And, when CBS decided to flip the format of his station in 2009 from talk to music, he magically disappeared.
Yesterday, Tom returned on his website www.blowmeuptom.com delivering a radio show over the Internet. While not the first show to be broadcast over the Internet, Tom is the biggest name that I am aware of.
As a way of delivering content this is unbelievable. Its a live program of a huge radio star, over the Internet….with no backing from a major station, a major company or anything.
