I just finished a really great book the other day:
Tell To Win: Connect, Persuade, and Triumph with the Hidden Power of Story by Peter Gruber.
The basic outline of the book is that stories win! If you have a choice between two presentations and one is just a bunch of PowerPoint slides, facts, and numbers vs. another presentation that has a compelling story, the story is going to win. Even if the actual bargain isn’t always the same.
This got me to thinking about what I’ve done over the years and in my experience its true. Working for years in the secondary ticket market, you could buy the tickets anywhere, but you bought them from me and my team because we told you a more compelling story, even if you ended up paying more with us than you would be taking 10 minutes to figure out what you wanted on the Internet.
Pick the book up. You may not find the entire book useful to you, but thinking about infusing your business and your life with a bit more narrative will only help you have better conversations in every area. That alone is worth it.
Enjoy!
