I’ve been thinking about the basics a lot lately.
It is because I am about to head off to the UK to do a keynote on the future of live entertainment.
And, what is interesting about what happens when you talk to any group is that they spend a lot of time focusing on the new new new thing. Or the hot hot hot thing.
Or something else that isn’t entirely relevant.
On the other hand, I am all about the basics.
Over time, I have come to embrace 3 simple questions that help set your business up for success.
1. What is the value you are delivering to your clients and want to deliver to your prospects:
Always focus on value!
Lead with value.
Quantify value.
Value! Value! Value!
2. Who can say, “yes!”
Not, “this is cool” or “this is interesting.”
We need a yes.
Spend your time on the people that can authorize the purchase of your products or services.
Nothing else…the person that can influence the purchase is your friend.
3. How do we reach them?
This is the best.
This is marketing.
What do these people read?
Where are they influenced?
Who is their friend?
What can you do to get in front of them?
That’s it.
Simple!
The basics.
