At the end of the day, your brand is really about one important thing…
What the world thinks about you without you saying a word.
Some of us have great brands and they speak for themselves. Others of us, are still working pretty hard at building our brands.
Some of us have brands that have been created for us because we didn’t do a good job of making the effort to control our own narrative.
Some of us have the exact brand that we wanted because we worked so hard to create it.
Take our friend, Ann Coulter, above.
She has built her entire brand on saying outrageous things that I’m not sure she believes.
The same applies to someone like Donald Trump or any number of other public figures.
Now think about someone that is universally respected and how does that brand differ from the ones that are ill formed, all about outrageous statements and attention, and think about how you can make your own brand more like that.
One way I know for sure to do that is to be considerate in the actions you take when building and focusing on your brand.
Another thing you need to do is to spend some time thinking about what you want your brand to be exactly.
Finally, you definitely always need to be reflecting on what your brand is, what you want it to be, and how those two things are lining up. If they are in alignment, great. If they aren’t you need to take the necessary actions as fast as possible so that you don’t end up going down a road that you don’t want to.
The choice is yours. You can control your brand and your image. Or, you can end up holding a sign that is begging people for attention at all times.
