Are you focusing on the right actions?

busy

Let me ask you a question?

If I were to ask you if you are busy or not, what would the likely answer be?

I’m sure for most of you, you would be telling me just how busy you are.

But that’s not the point of anything.

In fact, if you are “so busy,” I’d argue that in a lot of instances, you are likely failing.

Why?

The goal isn’t to do the most things, but to do the things that are most important.

Busyness is usually driven by an inability and an inattention to setting priorities and focusing on key performance indicators. Like me, I know that I have a certain amount of time that I need to focus on prospecting or my business shuts down.

So that is productive time.

The time I spend updating my files or organizing or responding to unnecessary or non urgent emails, that’s busy time.

So, how do you become more productive?

1. Set yourself some priorities by identifying the areas and points of impact that only you can achieve.

2. Schedule your time in a manner that gives you the space to achieve the most important activities.

3. Be consistent in setting priorities and scheduling your time.

By saying yes to other people’s priorities, you are either saying no to your own or you are pushing yourself into overload and a position where you want get your best work done.
