I had Gary Adler on my podcast today to talk about tickets, resale, and a lot more.
There’s a lot to learn from this episode, but here are my 3 key takeaways from the conversation:
Gary thought that last week’s hearing on the Hill had 3 big ideas that came out of it:
- Transparency is something that needs to be addressed.
- Transferability is going to be an issue.
- All-in pricing needs to be applied across the board.
Ticketing is broken:
Gary had a bunch of reasons behind his proclamation, but the big one is how quickly attendance and season tickets have fallen off.
Competition is good for consumers:
If too much power is consolidated in one company or one area, that is bad for consumers.
I came back with the idea that if you have built up your fan base and you can really market and sell effectively, you can and should control your relationship with your buyers as much as possible
But I think there is likely more on that area that we agree on than we disagree on.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
