3 Goals I Have For 2020

Hey There!

I was listening to my friend, David Lyman’s podcast this afternoon, he was talking about his goals for 2020 for his company, Kaizen Ticketing.

One thing that David said that stuck with me was the idea of just putting your goals out there to let people know what you intend to do.

While I’m still on the new year glow, I figured I would follow David’s example and lay out my goals for the year and, hopefully, show you how they will lead to me also be more valuable to you.

1. Create more opportunities for people to work with me in new and unique ways:

I did a few different kinds of workshops last year around the world and they were really well received and I really enjoyed delivering them.

I also spoke on several continents and delivered a bunch of webinars.

Along with sales trainings, classes, and podcasts…I created a lot more ways for everyone to work with me and for me to learn, teach, and add value for folks.

By creating these ways of working together, this gives me more room to do fun and interesting stuff with all of y’all in a way that works for your schedule, budget, and location.

Let me know what y’all think about this!

2. Focus more on strategy and marketing and how it is vital to business growth:

For a long time, I’ve thought about how I’ve always thought of marketing as providing freedom through the ability to create and capture opportunities, grow your business, and generate revenue.

Over the last year or so, I also think I got away from expressing that consistently.

When I went through the exercise of my 3 words a few weeks back, I realized that this year would be a good year to really spell out the importance of always focusing on your marketing and strategy because they are vital to your business.

In general, I think we all need this refresher and we are all always looking at ways to be more effective with our marketing and strategy.

3. Grow my business, impact, and community:

Grow was one of my 3 words that I picked to focus on this year and I think growth to me means growing my business, absolutely.

But to grow my business I’ll need to do two very important things…grow a larger community and increase my impact.

One way that this will help everyone is by growing my business and my impact, I’ll be able to connect you to better ideas and better folks to help you.

So if this newsletter is valuable to you, maybe you can share it or some of my other content with other folks you know!

I’ll be curious about what y’all are thinking about for the new year. I know I’ve asked and mentioned goals and ambitions a few times over the last few weeks, but I think refocusing is an important thing.

So let me know what you think.

BTW, I read two great books this week that I want to share with you.

Fearless Leadership by Alan Weiss is all about being courageous and taking prudent risks to achieve growth.

Delusions of Brandeur by Ryan Wallman is a book on advertising and marketing. I met Ryan in Melbourne and this book is great! It is funny, pointed, and will get your head on straight about marketing and advertising. As an added bonus, Ryan’s coming on ‘The Business of Fun’ this week to talk about the book and his love of sports.
