For years I’ve felt like sellers could learn a lot and win deals by acting more like marketers.
But as I’ve considered it more, I’ve come to the conclusion that I may be wrong.
Maybe marketing and sales aren’t collaborators, but adversaries.
In many ways, as I think about it, sales does fight what makes marketing great.
Marketing is about creating demand for your product or service in a way that people search you out, look at Tesla and Apple.
Sales is more about taking what you have already and trying to get people to buy.
So maybe not really one and the same after all.
