Strategy Isn’t A One Time Event

Too often I talk to leaders about strategy and I hear back some sort of answer that makes it seem like the discussion of strategy is a one time event that occurs when there is new leadership in an organization or once a year when it is time to talk to shareholders and stakeholders about the direction of the organization. 

That sells strategy short. Strategy has to be a part of all the decisions that your team is making and at the heart of what you are doing as a business. If you are not making decisions that support your vision and strategy, in the long term you are going to end up being in another location than you intended and you are likely to find yourself spending a lot more time and money thinking about strategy than if you considered the implications of your strategy throughout.
