I posted a post on LinkedIn this morning about a really terrible sports business sales email that was forwarded to me.
The gist of the post was really WTF?!
And, that got me to thinking about what are some of the really stupid things that maybe seem like good ideas to do that are really bad and make you look like an idiot…that you should stop right away.
1. Sending out tons of undifferentiated emails:
That got me started this morning, but spamming your audience is stupid. Don’t do it.
2. Stop talking about what you gain from a business relationship:
No one cares! The only thing your partners care about is what is in it for them.
3. Pitching at every given opportunity:
Your pitch sounds stupid! Ask questions. Listen!
4. Calling yourself a ninja, guru, or some stupid thing:
You aren’t anything of the sort. The highest rung on the ladder is to be a professional.
5. Stop quoting some asinine “thought leader” that only sounds good in sound bite form:
I’m looking at guys saying “crushing it” after every activity. Or, talk about some other stupid sound bite thing that is meant to show how hard they work.
